Business including hotels, strip clubs and certain medical facilities are required to display a notice in order to fight human trafficking. The notice should be posted in conspicuous locations within the establishment such as in public restrooms.
The Louisiana Human Trafficking Poster must be posted by the following establishments (R.S. 15:541.1):
- Every hotel must post the Louisiana Human Trafficking Poster in the same location that other employee notices are posted
- “Hotel” includes any establishment, both public and private, engaged in the business of furnishing or providing rooms and overnight camping facilities intended or designed for dwelling, lodging, or sleeping purposes to transient guests
- Every massage parlor, spa, or hotel that have been found to be a public nuisance for prostitution
- Every strip club or other sexually-oriented business
- Every full-service fuel facility that is adjacent to an interstate highway or highway rest stop
- Every outpatient abortion facility
In addition, the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control encourages all businesses to display the notice in order to heighten awareness of human trafficking.
