Employers operating businesses in which employees acquire tips are required to display the New York Tip Appropriation notice in a conspicuous location where it may be viewed by all employees. The notice states Section 196-D preventing the holding or appropriation of employee tips by the employer or any other entity employed at the business.
The notice also lists the offices of the Division of Labor Standards, including phone numbers.
